| جميع البومات كاظم الساهرBiography Kathem's eyes opened to the light on the 12th of September 1961 in Al-Mousil "an ancient city in the north of Iraq". He was born as the 7th child to a modest family, which has 8 boys and 2 girls. At his childhood his creativity began by making his own toys out of clay and wire, and very soon he began his first tries in writing poetry.He acquired his first musical instrument ( Oud ) after selling his bicycle, and from that moment his finger have never ceased from pedaling on melodies strings. His wonderful voice noticed at the first time while his reciting to the Holy Quran and later by repeating songs to a great musicians like Mohammad AlGubanchi, Mohammad Abed Alwahab, Nadhum AlGhazali, Fayroz...and others.In 1980, at the age of nineteen Kathem started teaching music at the women's unity association as well as a fraternity club. Kathem married his cousin at the same year. After 2 years he pursued studies at the Baghdad Music Academy for about six years. At this time people began to know him as Kathem AlSaher instead of Kathem AlSamara'e his real name.In 1987 he sang Ladghat Al Hayya "The Snake Bite" which earned him fame in Iraq his home country and the gulf region. Then Obart ElShat "Crossed The Ocean" which made his popularity cover more Arab country.Two years after his graduation from the institute, the Gulf War began which made it so difficult for him as an Iraqi musician to move freely between countries, Kathem moved to Lebanon in pursuit of his musical ambition. The Lebanese audience warmly embraced his art and granted him the opportunity to assert himself as an Iraqi artist. After this support, Kathem was able to bring Iraq's name to the spotlight again after it had been sanctioned out of mention. Kathem AlSaher established himself in the Arabic classical world with La Ya Sadiki "No, My Friend ", a magnum opus that lasted almost an hour and found him using maqams (scales) that hadn't been used in Iraqi music in several decades, revitalizing a tradition. The romantic site of Kathem`s voice and music with Kareem Al Iraqi's wards spread quickly to all the Arab world specially when Kathem sang to an Egyptian audience at the international conference hall in 1995. Since then more and more requests started rain on him, and every time he performed he repeat more success and reverence. When Kathem presented Salamtak Men Al Ah, a beautiful piece all written, composed and performed by him. In October of 1996 and by a coincidence, notable poet Nizar Qabani saw Kathem on TV as he sang Mawal Al Ghurba, not only was the fragrance of cardamom in Kathem`s voice and Kareem`s poetry savored, but the scent of Iraq was also invoked into reminiscence. Nizar Qabani being very touched by this piece of work penned a litter to Kareem Al Iraqi expressing his commendations. Though his heartfelt performance and sentiment songs, Kathem Al Saher resuscitated romance into the popular Arabic song. In 1997 Kathem released Madrasat Al Hob "The School Of Love" the album that put him in the way to be the best Arabic musician and singer. Then in 1998 he released Ana Wa Lyla "Me And Lyla" and at the same year he won a UNICEF award for his song "Tathakkar", which he performed in the U.S. for Congress and the United Nations -- one of the first real post-Gulf War cultural exchanges. In 1999 he released Habebaty Wal Mater "My Lover And The Rain", followed by Al Hob Al Mostaheel "An Impossible Love" in 2000, the first of his albums to be given an official American release, Abhatho Anki "Looking For You" in 2001, Kesat Habebayn "Two Lovers Story" in the year 2002, Hafeyat AlKadamayn "Bare footed " in 2003, Ela Tilmetha in 2004, and Entaha El Mishwar in 2005.
